Canadian Certified Pedorthists are allied healthcare professionals trained in the assessment of lower limb anatomy and biomechanics. They specialize in the design, fit, and modification of custom-made orthotics, orthopaedic footwear, compression socks and braces (custom and over the counter). C. Ped (C)s determine a patient's treatment through a biomechanical exam and gait analysis.
As proud members of patients' healthcare teams, Canadian Certified Pedorthists work with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers. How Pedorthists Help
Biomechanical assessment
A detailed biomechanical and gait analysis helps identify movement patterns, pressure points, and alignment issues contributing to pain or discomfort.
Custom Orthotics & Supportive Care
Custom orthotics, footwear recommendations, footwear modifications, custom footwear, bracing (custom & over the counter), and compression therapy help improve alignment, reduce strain, manage swelling and enhance comfort during daily activity.
Mobility & Long-Term Function
Pedorthic care helps reduce pain, improve walking mechanics, and support long-term mobility so you can stay active and move with confidence.
Medical Devices
Along with a thorough biomechanical and gait analysis, Pedorthists may recommend one or more of these medical products/devices.
Custom Orthotics
Custom orthotics are medical devices worn inside your shoes to support proper alignment, distribute pressure evenly, and correct faulty foot mechanics. Unlike over-the-counter inserts—which offer general cushioning but rarely address the root cause—custom orthotics are precisely crafted using a detailed assessment of your feet, walking pattern, and daily activities.
Compression Socks
Our pedorthists measure for and order Sigvaris Compression therapy which will help improve circulation, reduce swelling and leg fatigue, and provide comfortable support for everyday activities, work, travel, and recovery.
Bracing
We offer custom and off-the-shelf bracing solutions designed to provide support, improve stability, reduce pain, and assist with recovery for a variety of foot, ankle, knee, and lower limb conditions.
Footwear recommendations
After your biomechanical and gait analysis, footwear recommendations will be given to help improve comfort, mobility, and overall lower limb function.
Custom footwear/Footwear modifications
We provide custom footwear and shoe modifications to help accommodate unique foot conditions, improve comfort and stability, and support safer, more efficient movement.

Real Life Impact
Pedorthic care often transforms patients' lives in unexpected ways. Beyond reducing pain, custom orthotics, compression therapy, bracing, and proper footwear support can improve mobility, stability, and confidence—helping people move through their day with greater comfort and less fatigue. Patients often rediscover the ability to enjoy work, parenting, hobbies, exercise, and travel without being limited by discomfort.
Many are surprised by how impactful small changes can be. A footwear adjustment, properly fitted compression socks, or supportive brace can make an immediate difference. Ongoing care feels collaborative, not transactional, helping patients better understand their body and how to support long-term movement and function.
Typical improvements include decreased pain and swelling, better support and comfort, improved endurance for walking or working, enhanced stability, and renewed confidence in movement.
